CEDAR PARK, Texas — An Austin man faces multiple charges following an investigation into an assault in Cedar Park.

Police say on April 26 they were called out to The Lodge at Lakeline Apartments following reports that a man was assaulted with a pistol. But when Cedar Park police arrived, they couldn't find a victim or possible suspects.

Nearly a week after the incident, investigators found surveillance video of the assault which allegedly shows Joshua Harty-Smith pistol-whipping a victim in the back of the head. In the video, police say Harty-Smith then tries to shoot the victim twice, but his gun malfunctions.
