Man charged with murder after stabbing in southeast Austin

The incident occurred on Teri Road on Nov. 15.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in southeast Austin on Nov. 15.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said at approximately 11:49 a.m., officer responded to a call about a stabbing in the 2200 block of Teri Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 48-year-old Javier Jaimes, who appeared to be a stabbing victim.

Jaimes was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Crime scene specialists and detectives with APD's Aggravated Assault Unit arrived to process the scene. APD said investigators believe Jaimes and two suspects, including 36-year-old Joe Manuel Flores, got into an argument that escalated into a physical fight. APD said Flores then took out a large kitchen knife and stabbed Jaimes.

APD officers arrested Flores and charged him with first-degree felony murder. He was booked into the Travis County Jail on a $600,000 bond.
