Man killed in Rainey Street District apartment complex identified by APD

No arrests have been made, and it's unclear if police have identified a suspect in the shooting.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man shot to death over the weekend has been identified by the Austin Police Department (APD).

Alan Picazzo, 24, was killed Saturday morning at The Quincy apartments on Red River Street, in the Rainey Street District.

Authorities were called out to the complex around 6:30 a.m. after reports of multiple shots fired. When they arrived, they found Picazzo with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to APD.

During the investigation, APD learned that Picazzo was involved in a disturbance with someone else before it escalated into a shooting. So far, no arrests have been made, and it's unclear if APD has identified a suspect in the shooting at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact APD at 512-974-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

APD says Picazzo's death is being investigated as Austin's 17th homicide of 2024.
