Man killed in East Austin shooting Saturday identified

The shooting happened at a car show just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified the victim of a shooting that resulted in a man's death Saturday night.

According to APD, the incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. at 3909 N. Interstate 35 Frontage Road, in the Fiesta parking lot. Multiple callers reported that someone had been shot in a vehicle at a car show.

When officers arrived, they and Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) medics attempted to perform life-saving measures on the victim, later identified as 20-year-old Christian Loredo, but he ultimately died at the scene at 6:40 p.m.

Police said Loredo was in a verbal conflict with a group of people in another vehicle that escalated when a suspect shot Loredo. The suspect fled the scene immediately after.

According to APD, the incident was isolated and there is no current threat to the public.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact APD at 512-974-TIPS or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest.

The case is being investigated as Austin's eighth homicide of 2024.
