H-E-B buys land in Manor as part of future retail center

Construction is set to begin next year on Manor Crossing, a 63-acre retail center at the northwest corner of U.S. 290 and FM 973.

It's still not clear if H-E-B definitely plans to open a store in Manor, but there is new evidence the popular grocery chain has purchased land for a new location.

A Travis County deed filing shows H-E-B recently purchased 20 acres within Manor Crossing, a 63-acre retail center at the northwest corner of U.S. 290 and FM 973. Currently, the nearest H-E-B's to the future Manor Crossing site are in Pflugerville and Elgin, both 20 minutes away.

The Austin Business Journal (ABJ) first reported H-E-B's potential plan for Manor Crossing in 2022. In December 2023, a parking amendment for an H-E-B store was presented to the Manor City Council and the city's economic development director said the chain had applied for a sign permit.

Construction is set to begin on Manor Crossing in 2025. ABJ said tenants that have signed up for a leasable 146,000-square-foot retail center at the site include T.J. Maxx, Burlington, Planet Fitness, Five Below, The UPS Store, Sports Clips, Mattress Firm, James Avery and more. Twin Liquors is also negotiating a deal at the center, and The Home Depot just closed on a purchase of a 12-acre crossing at the site.

Several restaurants have also leased or purchased space at Manor Crossing, including Chick-fil-A, Chili's, Chipotle, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Jersey Mike's Subs and Waffle House.
