The bowling alley in North Austin will shut its doors by the end of 2024, according to reports.

AUSTIN, Texas — It could be the end of an era for another classic business in Austin.

Highland Lanes on Burnet Road is expected to shut its doors by the end of 2024 after nearly 50 years of operation.

According to the Austin Business Journal, the owners of the bowling alley said their lease is up. There are currently plans to convert the bowling alley into a new 300-unit multifamily development which will also feature 36 units reserved for affordable housing. The development will also feature 4,000 square feet of commercial use space.
