Missy Elliott puts Austin on the list for her first headlining tour

Missy Elliott is coming to Austin in July.

AUSTIN, Texas — (CultureMap Austin) Rap superstar Missy Elliott, after 27 years as a recording artist, will go on her first-ever headlining tour, titled Out of This World -The Missy Elliott Experience, which will include a stop at Austin's Moody Center on Thursday, July 18.

The tour will travel to 24 cities across North America, starting with Vancouver, British Columbia on July 4. In addition to Austin, Elliott will perform in two other Texas cities: Houston on July 20 and Fort Worth on July 21.

Even though the Hip Hop/R&B pioneer will be the headliner, the tour will also feature other big names like Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland.

Elliott started out hot with her 1997 debut album, Supa Dupa Fly, which went to No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and she stayed at or near the top with five subsequent albums.

Despite her last official album coming out in 2005, she remains iconic thanks to hits like "Get Ur Freak On," "Work It," and "Lose Control," the latter of which featured Ciara. Her most recent work was when she was featured on Skrillex's 2023 song, "Ratata."

Tickets will be available starting with Verizon presale starting on April 9. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday, April 12 at 10 am at Missy-Elliott.com.
