Multiple teens hospitalized after shooting during celebration of life in east Houston, sheriff says

HCSO said they suspect there were multiple shooters based on the type of shell casings found at the scene.

HOUSTON — Multiple teens were hospitalized after a shooting during a celebration of life event in east Houston Saturday night, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The sheriff's office said deputies received a call around 7 p.m. about several gunshots being fired at an apartment complex on Uvalde Road between Wallisville Road and Woodforest Boulevard. HCSO said there was a celebration of life going on at the time of the shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies found that multiple people had been taken to an area hospital with gunshot wounds already. One person stayed at the scene and was subsequently taken to a hospital by EMS. All victims are expected to survive.

HCSO said they suspect there were multiple shooters based on the type of shell casings found at the scene.

An investigation into the shooting was launched Saturday night.

There is no word on a suspect.
