Events with heart

Looking for something fun to do that's also good for the soul? You're in luck: there are several events planned this weekend that serve a good cause.

First, there's Y'all Out Boy Presents: Pop Punk & Pups! Saturday at the Far Out Lounge and Stage, located at 8504 S. Congress Ave. The concert will be packed with pop punk favorites, and a portion of the show proceeds will go to Austin Pets Alive! There will also be dogs available for adoption.

Next, there's Austin Animal Center's 3rd Annual Adoptober Fest. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at AAC, located at 7201 Levander Loop. It will feature more than a dozen local vendors, a DJ and 18 adoptable dogs (and maybe a cat) decked out in costumes, strutting their stuff down the runway.

Finally, there is the Art From the Streets 31st Annual Show and Sale at Blue Genie Art Bazaar, located at 6100 Airport Blvd. According to the event page, Art From the Streets has been offering creative supplies and art sales opportunities for people experiencing homelessness in Austin for more than three decades.
