A local radio station is planning to honor one of the first artists who helped put the Unplugged at the Grove Music Series on the map for live music fans across Central Texas.
Jimmy LaFave, a beloved singer-songwriter from Austin, was scheduled to close out the KGSR event Thursday, Sept. 14. However, the 61-year-old musician passed away in May 2017 after battling cancer.

Instead, representatives with the now 24-year-old music series said the stage will be dedicated to LaFave at 8 p.m. Thursday with an 18 by 5-inch sign that reads "Jimmy LaFave Stage", topped by LaFave's signature buffalo image.
Concert officials said LaFave's music will be played at the ceremony by his band over the PA system.
All fans of LaFave's music are invited to attend. There's no cover charge and all ages are welcome.
The Shady Grove is located at 1624 Barton Springs Road in Austin, Texas.
