TIME named U.S. President-elect Donald Trump its person of the year on NBC’s Today Show on Wednesday morning.
Trump beat out 10 other finalists, including his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
"To be on the cover of Time as person of the year is a tremendous honor," Trump said in a phone interview on the Today Show.

It marks the 10th time Trump has graced TIME's magazine cover.
TIME declared Clinton its runner-up for person of the year. Newsstands will sell the magazine issue starting Friday.
U.S. constituents elected Trump to become the country's 45th president in November. Trump’s inauguration is set for Jan. 20, 2017.
