JARRELL, Texas — A Jarrell Elementary School student is OK after being hit by a car during the morning drop-off on Wednesday.

Principal Andrea David said a bike rider was hit by a car on Judge King Drive as students were arriving.

According to a note sent to parents, the student was following the school’s procedures and route for bike riders when the incident happened.

As a precaution, the student was taken to the hospital and is OK, David said.

The school issued a reminder to parents on Wednesday, asking everyone to pay attention and cooperate with the school drop-off/pick-up areas and procedures every day, without exception.

David said the front entrance to the school is for bus riders, bike riders and walkers only. Students should not be dropped off in cars on the street in front of the building, the note said.

“Our hearts simply cannot take the thought of one of our students being injured,” said David. “Please follow our procedures for drop-off/pick-up and help keep all JES students safe.”

Parents were also urged to follow all school speed limits.
