APD investigating homicide in northeast Austin

A suspect has been charged with murder after the incident in the 12700 block of Harris Branch Pkwy.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has charged a man with murder after a homicide in northeast Austin on Monday afternoon.

APD said officers were on the scene of the incident in the 12700 block of Harris Branch Pkwy.

According to police, around 1:50 p.m., 911 received multiple calls of an active disturbance at the location. Callers reported hearing multiple gunshots, APD said.

Officers arrived on the scene around 2 p.m. and located a man, identified as 47-year-old Eric Wilkinson, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at 2:29 p.m.

A suspect, 34-year-old Darryl Brown, was quickly detained after the incident. He has been charged with murder and booked into the Travis County Jail.

Detectives believe it was an isolated incident and there is no further danger to the public.

This is Austin's 81st homicide of 2021.
