One killed after SUV strikes Amazon truck on Ben White Boulevard

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead after a fiery crash involving an SUV and an Amazon semi truck on Ben White Boulevard early Monday morning.

Austin-Travis County EMS said the crash occurred around 2:07 a.m. near 7200-7644 E. Ben White Blvd. at the cross street with the Monotopolis ramp.

A man was pronounced dead on scene after police said the SUV ran into the back of the truck. The truck driver was not injured

The preliminary investigation shows a gray 2009 Infinity EX35 was traveling westbound on Ben White when the driver left the road for an unknown reason and slammed into the truck, which was stopped on the shoulder.

Anyone with any information on the crash is asked to contact police at 512-974-6935.

This was Austin's 10th fatal crash of 2021, resulting in 11 deaths. On the date of this crash in 2020, there were 12 fatal crashes and 12 road deaths.
