Zombies in Austin area for 'Fear the Walking Dead'

Zombies are among us Austinites!

Don't freak out if you see dead people walking around the Austin area in the coming days.

It's just the zombie apocalypse and a film crew for the AMC television show "Fear the Walking Dead," Director of the Austin Film Commission Brian Gannon told KVUE's media partners at the Austin American-Statesman.

Gannon told the Statesman he's grateful the "Walking Dead" spinoff chose the Austin area for their filming location.

"What’s great about the TV series is it keeps our crew employed for long periods of time; we want productions in town generating money for the local economy and not moving to Atlanta or Kentucky," he said to the Statesman.

The show will be filming from Nov. 28 through Dec. 1 in southeast Austin at Shady Cedar Drive and Onion Creek Drive.

Earlier in November, social media was ablaze with speculation that the show was filming in Round Rock at Dell Diamond.
