Floodwaters continue to keep residents out of Lake Travis

Lake Travis neighbors are worried about the rain and the additional flooding it could cause.

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Lake Travis is still more than 135 percent full and after more than a week, homes along the lake are flooded.

Neighbors are worried about the rain and the additional flooding it could cause.

Some residents still have not returned home to the Graveyard Point area because this water is still high.

Austin's Lake Travis levels expected to continue slow decline

The end of Hurst Creek Road is a watery ghost town. It is difficult to tell what is lake and what should be dry land. Water filled homes and covered yards.

Roland Adams is one of the only people you see out and about. He stays busy managing the Crosswater Yacht Club.

"It was an epic amount of water coming into our system,” said Adams.

He is a native Austinite and is used to life on the lake and the flooding that comes with it.

"We all know there's several houses here in the Graveyard Point area that are the first to go under,” said Adams. “A lot of the neighbors on higher ground will go help them and then they're available whenever their house goes underwater."

Wednesday afternoon neighbors kept a close eye on the rainfall.

"I just hope that the LCRA does stay on top of watching the floodgates,” said Eileen Alter, who lives in the area.

It was just a week ago when they watched the lake creep closer to their homes.

"I think it surprising because the rain kept coming down and we didn't expect it to rise so high so fast,” said Alter.

They are hoping a new round of rain will not put them even farther under water.
