TikTok planning to expand in Downtown Austin, report says

The social media giant is looking at a property that Facebook passed over, according to the Austin Business Journal.

According to a report from the Austin Business Journal (ABJ), TikTok, a social media platform popular with teenagers, is on the hunt for office space in Downtown Austin.

The property in question is said to be 300 Colorado, a 32-story tower nearing the end of its construction at Third and Colorado streets. It's the same property that Facebook reportedly passed on after walking away from a lease.

Sources told the ABJ that the deal with TikTok is still in its preliminary stages and nothing has been confirmed yet. The ABJ also reported that TikTok is looking at other properties in the area.

Once completed, the tower will reportedly have 353,000 square feet.

According to its careers page, TikTok currently has 71 job openings across Austin.
