Scorching first weekend of summer expected in Austin area

The first weekend of summer will start off with a bang.

CENTRAL TEXAS -- You think it's been a hot 2018 so far in Texas? It's only the beginning, y'all!

The first weekend of summer will start off with a bang.

Humidity is expected to be very high, allowing heat index values to climb perhaps as high as 110 degrees.

Anything over 105 degrees is considered dangerous. Heat exhaustion can occur quickly if precautions are not taken.

If you're going to be spending time outside, it's imperative that you take frequent breaks from the heat and keep hydrated.

According to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the most common warning signs for heat exhaustion include dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps and cool, pale skin.

Here are the different symptoms for heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
