Fatal crash shuts down southbound 183A Toll lanes in Cedar Park

Investigators said it appeared a dump truck driver struck another semi-truck before veering off the overpass.

CEDAR PARK, Texas — A fatal crash caused road closures in the Cedar Park area on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cedar Park Police Department said it received a call at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday of a dump truck that went over the side of the 183A Toll at Brushy Creek Road.

Upon arrival, officers and firefighters with the Cedar Park Fire Department found the dump truck on fire under the overpass. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity will be released pending an autopsy and notification of next of kin.

CPPD said based on the investigation so far, it appears the dump truck struck another semi-truck on the toll before veering off the overpass.

Officials first closed the on-ramp to southbound 183A at Whitestone Boulevard. They later said they were also closing the eastbound lanes at Cougar Avenue and Brushy Creek Road.
