Westlake High School showed its dominance in class 6A athletics, as the Chaps secured three separate state championships: girl's golf, boy's golf, and boy's doubles in tennis.

GIRL'S GOLF

The Westlake girls golf team won the Class 6A Team State Championship Tuesday May 22 at Legacy Hills Golf Club in Georgetown.

The Lady Chaps won by 15 strokes. Sadie Englemann, Bentley Cotton, Madelyn Jones, Jackie Feldman, Elena Castanon collectively posted a score of 290 on day one and 299 on day two.

Another Austin-area team, Lake Travis, won second place at the girl's golf state championship in a playoff against The Woodlands. Lake Travis entered the second day of the championship six strokes behind The Woodlands, but a day two high score of 295 brought the Cavaliers back for a tie at an overall score of 604.

TENNIS BOY'S DOUBLES

Roger Chou and Cyrus Sabharwal defeated Clear Creek to secure the Chaps a state championship in tennis boy's doubles on Friday May 18.

Chou and Sabharwal took the first set 7-5, but experienced some adversity in the second set, falling behind early 0-3. The Chaps went on to lose the second set 2-6, but bounced back to start the third set. Chou and Sabharwal shot out to an early 3-0 lead in the third set and held on to win 6-2.

Sabharwal delivered the serve on the match point to win the 6A state championship for the Chaps.

BOY'S GOLF

On Tuesday, May 15, the Westlake Boy's Golf team won the 6A state championship at Legacy Hills Golf Course -- its second straight state title.

The championship win marked the program's fifth state title under head coach Callan Nokes and Lane Grigg, according to Westlake Nation on Twitter.

It was the second time in school history that the boy's golf team had won back-to-back championships.
