Texas moves up to No. 7 in latest AP Poll

The Texas Longhorns rankings are only getting better as they head into their bye week.

AUSTIN — The Texas Longhorns head into their bye week ranked first in the Big 12 standings, riding a six-game winning streak and one of the top seven teams in the country. That’s according to the latest AP poll, which has the burnt orange sliding in at number seven, up two spots from number nine.

Texas also moved up six spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll from number 14 to number eight.

Texas will use this week off to rest and recover before another tough stretch of games featuring Oklahoma State, West Virginia, and Texas Tech.

This is especially good timing for starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger who left the game against Baylor in the first quarter with an apparent shoulder injury.

Today, Texas officials confirmed MRI results came back as a first-degree shoulder sprain. Ehlinger will be evaluated as he rehabs.
