Texas Longhorns picked to finish fourth in 2018 Big 12 media preseason poll

The Texas Longhorns were selected to finish fourth in the Big 12 media preseason poll and their Red River Rival, Oklahoma Sooners, were chosen as the odds-on favorite to win the conference, which would be the Sooners' fourth straight title.

AUSTIN, Texas — Football season is right around the corner.

With that being said, preseason polls and predictions for the conferences throughout the NCAA are being released as the college football season nears. The Big 12 media released its 2018 preseason poll Thursday afternoon.

Oklahoma was chosen as the odds on favorite to win the conference title again. The Sooners received 46 first place votes out of a grand total of 52 votes cast. Oklahoma's Red River Rival, Texas, was slated to finished fourth in the standings, receiving one first place vote.

The full Big 12 preseason standings were as follows:

  1. Oklahoma (46)
  2. West Virginia (2)
  3. TCU (1)
  4. Texas (1)
  5. Oklahoma State
  6. Kansas State (2)
  7. Iowa State
  8. Texas Tech
  9. Baylor
  10. Kansas

Oklahoma has won the Big 12 title the past three seasons in a row, dating back to 2015. Texas finished fourth in the Big 12 standings in 2017.
