AUSTIN — The University of Texas women's basketball team may have to start the season without one of it's star players.

Junior guard and forward Joyner Holmes underwent surgery on Thursday to repair an injury to her right ankle.

Holmes suffered the injury in practice on Monday and a return to the court has not been established.

The Longhorns are projected to finish 2nd in the Big 12. The ladies tip off the regular season on Nov. 8 against Duquesne at the Frank Erwin Center.
