The Texas Blaze 18U softball team heads to California this week to play for a National Championship.

The team, coached by legendary Austin area softball coach John Carpenter, is made up for girls who are about to be seniors in the Austin and San Antonio area.

Catcher Boo Boo Vannoy says, "I'm really excited. Honestly I think we've done really well to prepare for the tournament this week."

Camryn Middlebrook agrees, saying "I can't wait to win this with my team. Our chemistry is so strong and I know we can do it."

The team is 23-6-4 on the year, competing in tournaments against the best teams in the country. Teamwork and chemistry could be the key according to Tori McCann.

"That's the first thing important is team chemistry," says McCann. "All staying together and talking on the field."

The team loves to play hacky sack to stay loose, saying the college they plan on attending as they kick. It helps coordination, teamwork and chemistry. And it may result in a National Title for the Blaze.
