Public invited to give feedback on MLS stadium proposal in Austin

If you have thoughts on the possibility of MLS in Austin, you should share your feedback with city council.

AUSTIN — Tuesday night, people will be gathering to talk about the continued push for a major league soccer stadium in North Austin.

The City of Austin is asking for public input from the community in connection to the use of land for the major league soccer team "Columbus Crew."

The sports franchise wants to move the team to the 24-acre piece of land at 10414 McKalla Place near Burnet and Braker Lane -- which is publicly owned.

In March, the city council passed a resolution directing staff to start getting feedback from the public.

There will be three information sessions to provide feedback on this situation:

Tuesday, May 8

Information Session #1 -- Northwest Recreation Center Gym, 6:00 p.m. -- 6:45 p.m.

Information Session #2 -- Northwest Recreation Center Gym, 7:00 p.m. -- 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, May 10

Information Session #3 -- Montopolis Recreation Center Room #1, 7:00 p.m. -- 8:0 p.m.

The council is scheduled to receive a detailed report concerning the viability of the McKalla Place location.
