The power of social media has connected an Alief fourth grader with his favorite football player.
The boy scored big by getting to hang out with Houston Texans star J.J. Watt.
Dillian Whiteside poured his heart out in a practice essay for his upcoming STAAR writing test.
“They had to write about who they would like to meet, who they admire and someone they would like to meet," Mahanay Elementary Teacher Laura Shepard said.
Dillian wrote he wanted to meet Watt, “so I can thank him for giving money to some people for when Hurricane Harvey was going on.”
Dillian’s teacher tweeted the essay, and Watt responded, saying he would like to meet the student.
Dillian and Ms. Shepard met up with Watt at NRG Stadium Wednesday, and Dillian got to thank the Texans star for helping Houston recover after Hurricane Harvey.
