The hits keep coming to the Cleveland Browns' wide receiving corps. Ahead of their Week 11 matchup vs. the Detroit Lions (0-8-1) on Sunday, the Browns (5-5) announced that Donovan Peoples-Jones will be inactive for the contest with a groin injury.

The second-year wide receiver had previously missed two games this season after suffering a groin injury in pregame warmups ahead of Cleveland's Week 7 win over the Denver Broncos. While Peoples-Jones returned to play against the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots the past two weeks, he reaggravated the injury in practice in the days leading up to Sunday's game vs. Detroit.

The loss of Peoples-Jones could prove significant for the Browns, who will also be without wide receiver Anthony Schwartz, who is dealing with a concussion. Having traded Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this month, Cleveland will be with just three active wide receivers vs. the Lions: Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins and Ja'Marcus Bradley.

In Peoples-Jones' place, the Browns are listing David Njoku as a second starter at tight end.

Selected in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Peoples-Jones has enjoyed a strong second season in Cleveland. In eight games, the Michigan product has caught 16 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns.

The following players will be inactive for the Browns on Sunday:

  • WR Donovan Poeples-Jones
  • WR Anthony Schwartz
  • CB Troy Hill
  • CB A.J. Green
  • DE Takkarist McKinley
  • DE Ifeadi Odenigbo
  • DT Sheldon Day
