New UT 'fan-first' menu makes snack options cheaper for Longhorn football fans

The University of Texas Athletics Department hopes it won't cost you a fortune to eat at the concession stand during Longhorn football games this upcoming season.

AUSTIN -- University of Texas football fans will be in for a treat when they head down for some grub at the concession stand this upcoming season.

UT athletic officials said they are reducing prices for some of the food and beverage items at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium's concession stand -- thanks to a new "fan-first" menu.

Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte said Monday the prices on 10 of the most popular game-day concession items will be reduced by an average 30 percent.

"We're taking a close look at every aspect of the fan experience," said Del Conte. "Food and beverage is a big part of that. We're going to maintain the quality our fans expect while giving them a break on the pricing."

Del Conte added that the cost for a family of four on a typical game day meal could be $28 or less with the new menu. Some of the reduced-price items include a regular fountain soft drink for $3, regular nachos for $4 and popcorn for $3.
