The Sterns family will be divided in Stillwater

Caden Sterns, a freshman defensive back for UT, will take on his big brother's alma mater, OSU.

AUSTIN — The Sterns family will be divided on Saturday night in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Texas Longhorn freshman defensive back Caden Sterns is making a trip to a familiar place.

“Been to Stillwater a decent amount of times,” he said.

He and the sixth-ranked Longhorns will meet Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys at T. Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday night, a place the Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist knows all too well.

“Probably been looking forward to this week all season,” said Sterns.

Other than taking one more step towards a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game, Sterns would love to beat his big brother’s alma mater.

You see, Sterns older brother, Jordan Sterns, was an All-Big 12 linebacker for OSU (2013-16). The Sterns boys are both graduates of Cibolo Steele High School outside of San Antonio, but big bro took his talents to Stillwater, and little bro said Jordan has an affection for the burnt orange.

“My bro has always been a Longhorn fan,” said Caden.

There hasn't been any significant trash talking between the Sterns so far.

"Just on Facetime with my mom, he popped in the background and said GO POKES," said Sterns.

Little Sterns is familiar with OSU and Stillwater due to trips in the past to watch his big brother play for the Cowboys.

Caden even admitted that he thought highly of Gundy and OSU during his recruiting process in his senior year of high school.

“OSU was a top three for me,” he remembered.

In 2016, Texas fell to OSU, their last trip to Stillwater. Caden’s big brother made an interception during that game as well.
