AUSTIN — Sophomore running back Toneil Carter announced in a tweet that he will be transferring from the University of Texas football program.

Dear longhorns,

Sometimes in life we have to do what’s best for us. In my life right now the best decision for me is to move on with my life . I really and truly want to thank every Longhorn fan for the support and all the negativity I will get from this.

He also caught six passes for 31 yards and a touchdown.

Texas will play Georgia in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
