Texas is hosting an NCAA regional and the Aggies are headed to Austin

The UT softball program received the nation's ninth overall seed.

For the first time since 2013, the Texas softball program is hosting one of the sixteen four-team, double-elimination NCAA regionals.

Texas also received the ninth overall seed in the field of 64 NCAA Tournament.

Not a bad start for first-year head coach Mike White. In his first season at Texas, the Longhorns experienced the programs 12th 40-plus-win season.

The field of four in the Austin Regional includes a flashy name for Longhorn fans: Texas A&M.

The only way the Longhorns and Aggies will face each other is if they meet in a round-two game or later in the tournament.

According to the analysts during the NCAA Selection Show on ESPN2, Texas A&M was one of the last programs in, due to their 28-25 overall record.

The Austin Regional begins on Friday at McCombs Field on the University of Texas campus.

Sam Houston State University and the University of Houston will join UT and Texas A&M in the Austin Regional.
