AUSTIN, Texas — Despite losing four of their final five regular-season games, Shaka Smart's Longhorns will begin a new season in Kansas City, Missouri.

Texas will be the sixth seed in next week's Big 12 Tournament. The Longhorns finished the season 8-10 in Big 12 play and 16-15 overall after losing to TCU on Senior Day in Austin on Saturday, 69-56.

The Longhorns may need multiple wins to earn an at-large bid to the Men's NCAA Tournament. UT will face third-seeded Kansas on Thursday at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

If Texas beats Kansas for a second time this season, UT will face Texas, Oklahoma or West Virginia on Friday.
