No skipping the bowls for the Longhorns

"Me, personally, I think guys shouldn't skip bowl games unless you know for sure you're going to be in the first round," Charles Omenihu said.

The Longhorns were a little short-handed in the Texas Bowl against Missouri last year.

Star players Malik Jefferson, Connor Williams, Deshon Elliott and Holton Hill skipped the game to prepare for the NFL draft.

But even with several NFL hopefuls on the team this year, the skipping seems to have stopped.

"Me, personally, I think guys shouldn't skip bowl games unless you know for sure you're going to be in the first round," senior defensive lineman Charles Omenihu said. "It doesn't look good."

But not looking good hasn't stopped several players from around the country from deciding to not play in their teams' bowl games.

West Virginia quarterback Will Grier and Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill have made their decisions. As have Houston defensive lineman Ed Oliver and LSU defensive back Greedy Williams.

But Omenihu said he has to play because he has unfinished business.

"It's a good test for me as an individual. I want to finish what I started. I had unfinished business," Omenihu, who got his degree this month said. "If you don't finish the business you came back for then what's the point saying you have unfinished business?"

Texas plays Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on January 1.
