NORMAN, Okla. — On Monday, Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman winner Kyler Murray declared for the NFL draft, making the announcement on Twitter.
Murray was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft, and he's supposed to join the organization following the football season.
Now, just because he declared for the draft does not mean he can't strike a new deal with the A's. Reportedly, Oakland was in works on a new deal that would give Murray more money than what his original contract included, which was a $4.66 million signing bonus.
Murray has 72 hours in which he can decide to withdraw.
Murray led the Oklahoma Sooners to the college football playoff semi-finals after defeating Texas in the Big 12 Championship game.
