Coaching changes continue in high school football: Jason Dean promoted to AD in Georgetown

Several Austin area schools have made coaching changes for 2019.

Georgetown ISD has announced Eagles coach Jason Dean will become the district's athletic director. He had been head coach there since 2009, leading Georgetown High School to 11 playoff wins, including five in the magical 2012 season when the Eagles played in the State Championship game.

Dean joins a long list of high school coaches in the Austin area who have left their jobs.

Fellow Georgetown ISD coach Rob Davies has been promoted to AD at East View and replaced by Jerod Fikac of San Saba.

Leander's Tim Smith has moved on as has Lockhart's Brian Herman.

Taylor coach Rusty Purser is no longer coaching the Ducks after seven seasons and Schulenburg's Brandon Brown has left the Shorthorns after five years.

Mason coach Kade Burns has moved from the sidelines to being the boss. Burns is now the Mason High School principal.

The 2019 football seasons will kick off on Friday, August 30 for most teams.
