Texas women's basketball eliminated from Big 12 Tournament

UT was ousted in the semifinals by Iowa State, 75-69.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Karen Aston's Longhorns are returning to Austin after being eliminated by the Iowa State Cyclones in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, 75-69.

Texas will now focus on their NCAA Tournament destination and first-round opponent. 

Four Longhorns posted double-digit point totals, led by Joyner Holmes, who had 19 points in the loss.

Texas trailed the Cyclones the entire game, but tied it up at 64 with 3:22 remaining in the game. 

But, they were ultimately outscored by Iowa State, 11-5, the remainder of the game. 

Seventeen turnovers by Texas haunted the Longhorns.

UT will enter NCAA Tournament play with a 23-9 overall record.

The Women's NCAA Tournament Selection Show is Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m.

Iowa State will meet Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament title game Monday evening.
