Travis County Sheriff's Office dive team goes above and beyond to thank Girl Scouts

A few boxes of cookies turned into a boat ride on the lake for a local Girl Scout troop. Here's how one law enforcement dive team decided to say thanks.

AUSTIN, Texas — There's a Girl Scout scuba diving troop in Central Texas, and they're the only ones in the nation.

When the troop had a bunch of boxes of helping hero cookies, they decided to donate them to the Travis County Sheriff's Office dive team

Helping hero cookies are boxes of Girl Scout cookies people buy that are donated to first responders, military or law enforcement officers.

As a way to say thank you, the dive team decided to take the girls out on the boat Friday to teach them more about what lake patrol and the underwater recovery team does.

"it was a lot more informative than I expected when I heard we were going to bring helping heroes cookies because usually you just take a box of cookies and you just drop it off," said Eleanor B., who's been part of the troop for three years. "But this was really an interesting experience, and it's really unique and that's part of why I love scuba troop."
