School's out: Texas Tech cancels classes for NCAA championship

This is the first time Texas Tech has competed in the NCAA men's basketball championship

An historic event is cause for celebration, and the administration at Texas Tech University seems to agree.

After the Texas Tech men's basketball team beat Michigan State 61-51 Saturday night to advance to the NCAA men's tournament championship, the school's officials sent out a memo Sunday saying that school would be canceled after 5 p.m. Monday and all day Tuesday, so students could cheer on their fellow Red Raiders.
