A slow reunion: Lost tortoises reunite with their Austin owner in the bluebonnets

Seven months ago, two lost tortoises were reunited with their owner thanks to Reddit.

AUSTIN, Texas — Are you even from Texas if you haven't taken a bluebonnet picture?

Two adorable tortoises, Tai and Pei, received their Texas initiation with a photo by the iconic state flower. In a post their owner uploaded to Reddit, the two tortoises are seen happily munching on the grass, and even smiling for their photo. 

But the story gets even better.

Seven months ago, Reddit user Jonathan Ou found their backyard gate open and both Tai and Pei were missing. In a "lost pet" post in the Austin subreddit, their owner said the seven-year-old tortoises wandered into the Greenbelt from the backyard. Ou also offered "monetary reward" for the safe return of their treasured family pets.

With the help of two good Samaritans, both Tai and Pei were safely returned home.
