Michael McCaul seeking eighth term in Texas' 10th District in Congress

Michael McCaul (R) is challenged by Mike Seigel (D) and Mike Ryan (L) in a race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

AUSTIN — Three candidates are set to face off in Texas' 10th District U.S. House of Representatives election in November.

U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R) is hoping to be re-elected for his eighth term in the 10th District, which includes all of Austin, Colorado, Rayette, Waller and Washington counties and portions of Bastrop, Harris, Lee and Travis counties.

McCaul is challenged by Mike Seigel (D) and Mike Ryan (L) in a race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

McCaul, who is currently serving his seventh term in Congress, serves as a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and is the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Childhood Cancer Caucus. McCaul is the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security and a former federal prosecutor. Seigel, who is currently the Assistant City Attorney in Austin, was a former school teacher and is known for being the co-founder of two nonprofit education organizations, according to his website. He also co-founded a nonprofit education organization dedicated to “community transformation” and attended Cornell Law School. Siegel is currently on a leave of absence as Assistant City Attorney in Austin.
