AUSTIN, Texas — Local lawmakers are weighing in on the new government shutdown deal.
Congressman Lloyd Doggett had this to say about the three-week reopening:
"Well, I'm so pleased for these federal workers who have gone through so much anguish and pain...and for everyone who relies on their services," Rep. Doggett said. "This shutdown should never have happened."
Rep. Doggett also said lawmakers will be back in Washington on Monday, discussing what needs to be done within those three weeks to ensure that the government doesn't shut down again.
