Politician and businessman launch initiative 'Term Limits Texas'

The initiative is designed to let Texans vote for term limits in the 2020 November election.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texan businessman, Mickey Dunn, has launched an initiative, 'Term Limits Texas', to let Texans vote for term limits in the 2020 November elections.

Dunn is working with State Rep. Kyle Biedermann and Rep. Lyle Larson to get this on the 2020 ballot.

Dunn will be introducing this organization at a press conference on the south steps of the Texas Capitol at 1 p.m. March 12.

According to the press release, Dunn will be meeting with community leaders, legislators and Texans across the state to gather support for the initiative. Dunn claims 80 percent of Texans support term limits on our elected officials.

"It's time to fill the Capitol with 'do-something' leaders, not 'do-nothing' career politicians," said Term Limits Texas founder Dunn. "Too many bright Texans and fresh faces with bold, new ideas are sidelined because of the inherent struggles that come with challenging a 10-, 20- or even 30-year incumbent in a campaign for public office," said Dunn. "It's time to allow more hardworking Texans to get off of the sidelines and into the service of their community in elected office."

Texas is one of 14 states without some form of term limits on its elected officials.
