A ride-hailing service which in the past has only provided rides to and from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is expanding its services to reach the entire city.
Wingz on Thursday will launch "Wingz Around,” which will allow users to travel anywhere in Austin.
"With Wingz Around everything is known up front,” said Wingz CEO Chris Brandon. “So you schedule your ride, pickup location, time, you know what your fare is going to be up front and, most importantly, you know who your driver is and frankly if you don't know who the driver is, you can cancel and book with another driver."
Rides to the airport must be booked at least two hours in advance, but Wingz Around rides require only a one-hour advance notice. The service also offers the ability for users to request specific drivers.
Brandon said Wingz decided to quickly expand service in Austin after Prop. 1’s failure led to the departure of Uber and Lyft.
