Wimberley school to make history as first ‘One Water’ school in Texas

A 'One Water' school means it will use 90 percent less groundwater than a typical school of this size.

WIMBERLEY, Texas — A new Wimberley primary school is making history.

It will be the first "One Water" school in the state. That means the school will use 90 percent less groundwater than a typical school of this size.

The campus will use rainwater and H-VAC condensation collection along with wastewater treatment during construction to conserve water.

Wimberley Independent School District trustee approved the plan for the school last week after voters approved the new school in a bond package in May.

Construction is expected to finish before the 2020 school year begins.
