ROUND ROCK, Texas — Have you dreamed of singing the national anthem at a ballpark? Here's your chance!
If you can sing, the Round Rock Express may want you!
The stadium is looking for people to take the stage and sing the national anthem this 2020 baseball season.
Monday, Feb. 10, auditions will be held at 5:50 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dell Diamond. The Express is no longer accepting online pre-registration, so walk-up auditioners will have to try out after all the present online applicants.
All auditions must be under 90 seconds and use "traditional, military-style with little to no creative variation," Round Rock Express said. Instrumental auditions are welcome, but vocal submissions must be a cappella.
One hopeful, Kat Whitlock, sang live on KVUE News Daybreak. She said she's been practicing and feels prepared for the big audition.
“I’m feeling pretty confident,” said Kat Whitlock. “I’m going to be OK as long as I keep it to a steady pace and simple.”
Can't make it? Don't worry. You can also record a video of your audition and send it to Express Director of Ballpark Entertainment Steve Richards at srichards@rrexpress.com.
Within two weeks of auditions, all participants will be notified whether or not they have been selected.
The Round Rock Express will kick off the 2020 season on April 9 against the Wichita Wind Surge at 7:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond.
