Cedar Park, Texas — The Austin Steam Train Association is debuting its latest car, the Cedar Park.

The 1946 stainless steel train car has been restored and is now operating as a concession car.

The car was originally known as Santa Fe Car No. 3163. It was built by Budd Company in its new line of streamlined, stainless steel cars and ran a 126-mile route from Los Angeles to San Diego.

The Austin Steam Train Association purchased the car in 2013 and started restoration in 2015.

The update was completed in May 2018 and the car was renamed the Cedar Park.

The climate-controlled car maintains the same color scheme as the original car. Passengers can purchase souvenirs, food and beverages in the Cedar Park.

The car is used on the Hill Country Flyer and Bertram Flyer rides.
