Car hits and kills pedestrian in northeast Austin

The person died after they were hit by a car.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead after they were hit by a car in northeast Austin Thursday morning.

According to the Austin Police Department, the person died at 2700 E. U.S. 290 near Cameron Road and Berkman Drive. Officers got calls at around 6:40 a.m. to report the crash on the westbound lanes of the highway.

Austin police said the man was trying to cross the highway. 

It's currently unclear if the crash was weather-related.

The APD does not have more information at this time.
