Austin PD identifies pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle in northeast Austin

The 62-year-old man died after being hit while crossing the street, according to a release from police.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has identified the person who died after being hit by a car Oct. 14.

According to APD, 62-year-old Lee Roy Pryor died in the 6800 block of E. U.S. 290 near Cameron Road and Berkman Drive. Officers got calls at around 6:40 a.m. to report the crash on the westbound lanes of the highway.

Austin police said the man was trying to cross the highway and was crossing mid-block when he was hit by a van. Police said the driver remained at the scene.

It's currently unclear if the crash was weather-related.

The APD does not have more information at this time.
