Two suspects in San Marcos hardware store robbery arrested, police say

SAN MARCOS, TX — SAN MARCOS, Texas -- Two suspects accused of robbing Hofmann's Supply hardware store in San Marcos in February have been arrested, police said Wednesday.

According to the San Marcos Police Department, Daniel De Luna, 39, of San Antonio was arrested on Lincolnshire Drive in San Antonio on April 19. He was booked into the Hays County Jail on charges of burglarizing a building.

Several days later, detectives identified Jesse Garza Jr., 44, of San Antonio as the second suspect. He was jailed in Bexar County on March 1 on an unrelated charge. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Garza on the burglary charged on April 25.

Police said at approximately 4 a.m. on Feb. 2, two suspects forcibly entered the business by attaching one end of a chain to the front door of the building and the other end to a vehicle hitch, then ripped the doors from the building.

The suspects stole three Miller welders and one Lincoln welder, according to police.

Police said the suspects are both documented criminal gang members. According to police, De Luna is a member of Tango Orejon and Garza is a member of Mexican Mafia.
