ROUND ROCK, Texas — A jury Thursday convicted a man for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he hit and killed a Stony Point High School coach with his vehicle before he fled the scene. The jury sentenced him to 18 years in prison Friday, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Javier Morales-Ramirez fled the scene in December 2016 after he ran a red light at an intersection, hitting and killing Sean Kelley.
Round Rock police tracked Morales-Ramirez down using evidence at the scene and the damage to his truck. He faces a minimum of five years in jail for the crime.

Kelley, a tennis and track-and-field coach, had been with the school for more than 10 years.
