3.1 magnitude earthquake strikes east of San Antonio

GONZALES COUNTY, Texas — According to the United States Geological Survey, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 struck Gonzales County at 5:48 a.m.

The earthquake was reported about 6 miles east of Nixon, a city 45 miles east of San Antonio. 

The depth of the quake was recorded as originating at 5 km or 3.1 miles below the Earth's surface. 

There are no reported injuries at this time.
